Dealing With Setbacks

I have not been to the gym for nearly 2 weeks now. The surgeon that did surgery on my neck a few months ago told me last week that I needed to modify some of the exercises that I was doing. He was pretty much talking about squats. He said that I should not do anything that compresses my spine, as that would create more problems for me sooner than later. His hope is that I will not need another surgery for at least 15 years.

The reason I have not been to the gym is because of back pain. The last time I was there I think that I knocked my upper back out of alignment a little. It feels much better now but I will continue to rest until the end of the week. Next week hopefully, I will be back. I will modify the exercises I’m doing. And I definitely have to figure out another way to work out my legs. Everything else is going well though.

I also need to do better on my diet. I need to tighten things up. I am eating too many carbs on a daily basis. Fortunately, I have not gained more than a few pounds.  But I can do better, and I will. This is the easiest diet I have ever been on, and it is a lifestyle change that I am very confident that I can maintain.

I am having some other difficulties as well that have nothing to do with my health. So there are some things that I need to get in order. Hopefully, that won’t be too difficult.

Since the delivery of my new saxophone a few weeks ago, well, actually about a month and a half ago, I have been practicing about every other day.   I had not played the saxophone for nearly 9 years. That was definitely a mistake. I have lost a lot. I’m not sure how long it will take me to get back into musical shape. However, if you would like to hear a little of my progress  I have another blog where you can check it out:  https://tonelovette.wordpress.com

That’s it for now.
