For the past 6-7 weeks, I have been in physical therapy because of pain in my hips. It was a very positive experience. When I walk, I am more steady on my feet. And speaking of walking, I can do it longer and without extreme pain. I still feel some pain, but it is much less than before.
Roper St. Francis is the home of ATI Physical Therapy. They are professional and extremely good at what they do. All of the therapists who worked with me were very conscious of my pain. They were very knowledgeable about the body’s anatomy and were spot-on with diagnosing what was causing my pain.
The therapist pushed me as much as I could allow, which was quite a bit. Sometimes, I left there feeling like I’d been to the gym lifting heavy weights. That’s just how out of shape the muscles around my spinal fusion had become.
I was discharged from physical therapy last week with a list of all the exercises I learned there. I feel solid and stable. I could even ride my motorcycle longer, although a more comfortable seat would help.
There are many products available to aid in being able to ride longer, including underwear with gel padding. The gel-padded underwear sounds delicious! There are also seats available that have some gel cushioning. I will likely invest in both of these items.
That’s about all I have to say in this post. I am pleased with the results of my treatment. I’m happy to be riding my motorcycle with less pain. As long I keep doing the exercises I’ve learned, I should be able to stave off the pain I have felt in the past.
