Sleep Makes Everything Better

I have had real hip and lower back pain for the past couple of weeks. It happens when I don’t get enough sleep. I have been unable to sleep during the night since I returned from Texas. Trying to get back on schedule resulted in me not getting enough sleep, which made my body very tired. When that happens, my pain increases.

As mentioned in a previous post, my pain comes in cycles. This one lasted around two weeks. Of course, when I got to my doctor’s appointment yesterday, my pain was nearly nonexistent. That’s the way it always happens.

My doctor did decide to get some X-rays. She should have the film by tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if anything has changed since my back surgery in 2010. The surgery was necessary. However, if I could have avoided it, I would have. In my experience, surgeries rarely do what the doctors say they will do.

I will see my doctor again in a month. Hopefully, she will have something informative to say. It would be great if I could get something done about this pain. A worst-case scenario would be if my hips need repairing or replacement. I don’t look forward to recovery from a hip replacement.

Not being fat would help my pain issues, but that’s not happening soon. Every time I go through one of these pain cycles, I swear it is the worst pain ever. Every time, I feel like it would be better to be dead. That’s a lot of pain.

Speaking of weight, I lose control, and my diet gets out of wack whenever my sleep schedule gets interrupted. That has been the case for the past month. I’m awake threw the night and sleeping during the day. The timing of meals is huge if you’re trying to be healthy. Eating at night is not helpful. Even if you are wide awake, eating at night is unhealthy. Anyway, that’s the feeling I get.

In the last month, I have gained about 13 pounds. More weight means more stress on the joints. More stress on the joints means more pain. Sounds logical, except for the fact that my pain has reduced tremendously, and I have not lost any weight yet. The only thing that has changed is my sleep. I have been back on schedule for about four days. Proper sleep at the right time of the day makes everything better.
