A Zero Carb Diet/Carnivore

So, for several weeks, I have been contemplating what is called the carnivore diet. That means you only eat meat No vegetables or any type of carbs, whatsoever. Several doctors now claim this is the best diet for overall health. I believe them. I’m gonna try it.

I began the carnivore diet today. I had no problems. No carbs today. I have a little headache but that was happening before today. I’ve been having issues with my neck. It’s probably inflammation.

It has been two hours since my last meal, and I just checked my blood sugar – 95. The steak I had with breakfast was cooked in the air fryer. I didn’t like it much. I prefer a pan-cooked steak. For my second meal, I had a more fatty steak than this morning, pan-seared and braised for 45 minutes. Delicious!

Between the two meals, I had some sardines packed in water. They have some iodine and salt content, which apparently can be lacking in this diet. More importantly, salt and iodine supply electrolytes.

I’ve been on the carnivore diet for 4 days now. I have lost around 6 pounds. I have noticed less inflammation in my body and a little less pain. I am not having any problems with hunger or cravings.

So far, I like this diet. I have had plenty of energy and have been sleeping at night. I always have problems falling asleep. I was constantly getting flip-flopped, awake at night, and sleeping all day. Not only have I been sleeping, but I have been sleeping well. I’ve been waking up early and feeling well-rested.

Today, I had trouble being satiated. I overcooked my roast last night. All that was left was the flavor and the chewy meat. There was no fat. And the fat is what causes you to feel satisfied. Also, if you try to eat lean meats on this diet, you’ll have an issue with constant hunger throughout the day. I ate as much of that roast as I could but (and I hate wasting food and money), I kept getting hungry afterwards. So much so that I ate as late as 11 pm.

Today, I feel much better. I am much more satisfied. My hunger last night was satisfied (salmon around 11 pm), and I was able to sleep and got plenty of rest. However, when I woke up I was ravenous. I started the morning with a nice fat ribeye. Ya know they taste better when you’re ravenous. Anyway, I was completely satiated until I had lunch around 2 pm.

For lunch, I had two fat 80/20 burger patties. It is now 7:15 pm, and I’m not even a little hungry.

I am very sore from the amount of walking I did this week. This diet supplies so much energy that I had to do something. So I walked- A LOT! I hope the soreness doesn’t last through the whole weekend. I have so much energy that I’ve been afraid every night that I won’t be able to go to sleep. However, I have had no problem. I’m asleep within 15 minutes and sleeping through the night.

I am actually looking forward to the second week on this diet. Sunday will end my first week. So far, I have lost about 8 pounds. Only six pounds on the carnivore diet, but I lost two pounds just by cutting out my Christmas season crap-fest.

    1. Many people have done it for years. Kelly Hogan has done it for 13 years with no issues. What I’m finding is that there millions of people who have been doing this since the 90s. I wish I had known. It would have helped me in the Navy.
