Upcoming Surgery Update

I’m 14 days out from my shoulder surgery. Some days, my shoulder doesn’t hurt at all. Other days it hurts like hell. I hope the surgery helps. I’m not always confident that a surgery will do what the doctors claim.

When I had surgery on my lower back (lower lumbar fusion), it solved one pain and created another, which I have lived with since 2010. It’s not like the pain that led me to surgery. It is different and not nearly as painful, but there are times it gets pretty bad. I hope the rotator cuff is an easier fix, and does not create a new issue.

I have not done so well on my diet as of late. My discipline has been non-existent. My sugar addiction is out of control. I don’t want to give up, but I feel like a loser.

I have still been able to fast kind of regularly. It has kept me from gaining weight. I need to eat better, get myself under control. I should at least be walking, but I have been kind of lazy.

I don’t have much more to say. I’ll get my act together one of these days. More than likely, it will be after the surgery.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

  1. The most difficult thing to do is to take good care of ourselves in times we face difficulties. Perhaps the stress of the surgery is pushing your diet-resolve beyond its limits. I think that’s a human thing to do, so don’t be too hard on yourself. You do what you can, when you can. And there’ll be a day you’ll find it’s easy to pick up where you left off, I am sure!

I hope your shoulder heals fast and right and no other pains will introduce themselves anytime soon!

    1. Thanks, Elle, for your encouragement. I’ve already had some rough days while at the same time needing less pain meds. It will be weeks before I’m able to move my shoulder without pain, a long recovery for sure.
